Many people believe that being a category management consultant is solely about data analysis and number-crunching, but one would be wrong. Category management involves understanding the needs of the business, identifying improvement opportunities, and providing impactful recommendations that drive results.
Is it frustrating, YES. Some days, one might feel like pulling your hair out. However, there many days you’ll experience the satisfaction of making a real difference. And those moments make what we do worthwhile.
During my first 6 months as a new Category Management Consultant, I’ve noticed certain behaviors that I can only describe as the 5 stages of Grief:
1. Denial: “I’m not just a category management consultant; I’m a strategic business advisor.”
2. Anger: “Why do I have to spend so much time on data analysis? I’m a people person!”
3. Bargaining: “If I finish this project, I can get back to what I love: PowerPoint.”
4. Depression: “I’ll never be a true consultant—I’m just a glorified data analyst.”
5. Acceptance: “I am a category management consultant, and it’s the best job in the world.”
Realizing that the 5 stages of Grief are a normal part of this journey is crucial. It’s important to remind ourselves that it’s not the worst thing in the world, and by putting in the work, we can achieve anything.
Moreover, we have the power to help businesses improve their bottom line and make a positive impact on your shoppers’ & consumers’ lives.

Woah! I’m enjoying the template/theme of this website. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s very hard to get that “perfect balance” between superb usability and visual appeal. I must say you’ve done a very good job with this.

Appreciate the feedback, still just learning how to use WordPress and develop this site on my own timetable. To me this was my experiment in learning WordPress Blocking system and playing around with All in One SEO. I will tell you your comments are so appreciated.

Your good knowledge and kindness in playing with all the pieces were very useful. I don’t know what I would have done if I had not encountered such a step like this.
